As a World Heritage Site

Sefa-utaki is one of the properties of the World Heritage Site "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu," inscribed in 2000.

As a World Heritage Site

In December 2000, Sefa-utaki was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu," together with sites such as Shurijo Castle. It is also designated a national historic site and a place of scenic beauty of Okinawa Prefecture.

The value that was recognized

What was recognized at inscription is that the culture of prayer rooted in reverence for nature is not a thing of the past — it still lives on in people's daily lives. Sefa-utaki is precisely a place where that prayer continues today.
