Each of the requests we make here is to protect the stillness of this place of prayer, the safety of all who visit, and the natural environment of the sacred site.
Requests within the sanctuary
Sefa-utaki is still carefully protected today as a place of prayer. Please do not touch or move the incense burners, pots, or sacred water. Please do not enter areas where entry is restricted. If you see someone offering prayers, please refrain from speaking to them or taking photographs, and quietly watch over them.
About Sangūi
Entry into Sangūi is currently not permitted. This measure protects the sanctuary and ensures safe, respectful worship. We hope you will quietly sense its presence from the area in front.
Clothing and footwear
Within the sacred site, the paths are stone pavement, steep slopes, and stairs. Please come in comfortable walking shoes and modest clothing. This is out of consideration for a place of prayer, and for your safety on the paths. On rainy days the stone pavement becomes slippery, so please take care. Photography and belongings
Within the sacred site, please keep photography to a minimum. Please refrain from taking pictures of people with worshippers or places of worship in the background. Drones may not be brought in or flown. For commercial photography or publication, an application must be made in advance (→ About photography).
